Early in the 2022-23 NBA season, the Phoenix Suns and FirstBank launched the FirstBank Empowerment Awards, a season-long program designed to strengthen marginalized communities through economic empowerment. The program expanded on the Los Suns Small Business MVP Award that the team started in 2018.
Over the past seasons, the FirstBank and Suns partnership has recognized eight minority-owned small businesses across the Valley; each recipient receiving $5,000 courtesy of FirstBank and promotional recognition through Phoenix Suns marketing channels throughout the season.
